FLY THE FLAG WITH PRIDE

This Thursday I encourage local communities to join me in celebrating Australia’s rich culture and tradition through Australian National Flag Day.

The 3rd of September marks the occasion in 1901 when our National Flag was first flown and communities from around Australia are encouraged to fly their flags with pride.

By nature, Australians are proud of their heritage and since its design, the flag has been a symbol of respect for diversity, appreciation of our democratic traditions and the joys of the Australian way of life.

National Flag Day provides an opportunity for Australians to reflect on our great nation and whether you are an individual, school or local community organisation, we can all celebrate this special day by flying or displaying the Flag and encouraging those around us to do the same.
