Time For Point Sturt Water Security

Today along with the Shadow Minister for Water, the Hon. Greg Hunt MP, the Federal Coalition is calling on the Federal Government to step in and fund the water security of the Point Sturt community.

The Point Sturt community has been waiting for the State Government to guarantee their water security for some time however it has failed to act.

Experiencing one of the worst droughts on record, the Point Sturt community can no longer rely on Lake Alexandrina with salinity levels and water quality now unsuitable for both domestic and livestock use.

The plight of the people of Point Sturt must not be ignored and they need action now. Funding of a spur pipeline from the existing Milang-Clayton pipeline will give this community some hope and confidence for the future.

As the Rann Government has failed to act, it is time for the Federal Government to step in and ensure this community survives.

Minister Wong has indicated that she will look at the issue, today we call on her to step in and fix this terrible situation.
